I watched the final game of the Women's World's last night -- which took place on April 15th against the States. TSN must be getting desperate for content if they're running these games at this late date. Regardless, there's some pretty decent hockey played by the women and chippy too at various stages of the game. I think they said it was Canada's first gold medal in the world's in six years.

I REALLY wish we had it here. closest I have to that would be Miami U's Redhawks, and they're an hour up the road.
watching young players develop is great. we lost are AAA team and now have an ECHL team. that just isn't the same.
I have to pull for the former Oilers in LA. Penner is a real hoot. nice guy, just doesn't always give it 100%
but if Jersey wins, I'm OK with that too.

I agree snipe, the Knights should be back because they are very young. Just communicated with some fellow from Portland who lost to your Oil Kings. He says there isn't much hockey out there apart from Junior A hockey but I told him that's not so bad because a lot of these kids are tomorrow's NHL stars.

Who are you going for in the NHL finals?

Congratulations Cataractes -- way to GO!!! An excellent game by both teams and thoroughly entertaining. It hard to beat the kind of enthusiasm, skill and emotion that every player on the ice displayed tonight. And I have to admit, watching the emotion displayed by the Knights goalie and several of the other players on both teams got me just a little choked up too. Great hockey -- great game!

you stole my words there Canadiens.
WOW! but they really need to get the hottest young girl in ontario to hug poor Houser.
nothing he could have done on that goal, and he feels like, well.... you know what.
yeah. the NHL has a lot to live up to after the hockey we've seen from the kids this spring!
Knights will be back.... maybe in the final next year against the Oil Kings?

Wow! Now that was real hockey.

Congrats to Shawinagan who it the hard way and won it as the great underdog with only a few minutes left in the first overtime period 2-1.

I am quite proud of the Knights who got there more with hard work than talent.

Let's hope the NHL final will be half this good.

I have to go with the Cataractes since they are the apparent underdog and of course they're the 'home' team.

Go CATS GO!!! (hmmm...for some reason that phrase sounds familiar)

that's my question too. should be a great game. too bad we don't get it here. I can watch the replay monday afternoon. I guess the NHL network needs all that time to cover the games that have already been played.... and to hype the games that haven't.

Wow - what about those Shawinigan Cataractes? They certainly deserve to be in the finals after beating both Edmonton and Saint John is single knock out competition.

Will Shawinigan be too tired to face the Knights?

Will London's long layoff hinder their performance?

We'll soon find out on Sunday!

All I know is what I've said all along, the London Knights aren't the most talented team in the Memorial Cup but their work ethics could win them the championship. They have a score to settle with Shawinigan who beat them 6-2 earlier.

If you can watch it, don't miss it.

not looking good for them Oil Kings. I think they're out of gas from that epic WHL final. St Johns and London in the final. sure would be nice to see it live. I'll have to read about the game and decide if it's worth watching at 10am monday :( yeah.... hockey is america's game alright LOL

St Johns got back on track last night. tried watching the pathetic feed from sportsnet. I can only gather from it that they're trying to tailor it for an american audience. LOL a single camera in the corner that zooms, somewhat, but never move at all. it was brutal.

I guess we're going to find out this afternoon how they fare snipe -- it should be a decent game.

The Memorial cup games are being shown ONLINE. So anyone not able to find the games on local TV have the online option.

Go Oil Kings GO!!!

Shawinigan 6 London 2

Knights really lost it with the rough stuff. Like I said, they are not the most talented team and were a long shot to win this tournament but when they play as a team and all out like they did the first game, they could surprise you.

Get your act together Knights!

Knights=Kings? good analogy? time will tell. these have been the best games I've seen all year :D
but starting monday, it looks like the US is going back to tape delayed games. this make no sense to me.
does the NHL network really need the 7-10 pm slot to discuss last night's game? one hour show repeated until the next night's games are played? I'm sure it's not a matter of sportsnet refusing to provide the games to them.
it's really not hard to see why the game isn't growing down here like it is in other parts of the world.

London Knights 5, Saint John Sea Dogs 3.

Seth Griffith who scored the third goal for the Knights is from our home town about 90 minutes from London. WTG Seth.

The Knights are definitely not the most talented team in this tournament but they are the hardest working and sometimes that is enough to win.

WTG Knights. Shawinigan is next.

the NHL network is, now, going to carry the Oil Kings first game live. can't wait :D
too bad Canada and the US both got knocked out of the worlds.... I though the call on getzalf was bad, bordering on atrocious. from my view, he kept his leg parallel with his shoulder. a very marginal kneeing minor, if anything. which... should not be called. my view as a biased fan...
then the Us and the fins had a steel cage match LOL
anyway.... plenty of Oiler prospects to watch in the Mem.... not to mention the calder cup playoffs. which gives us a chance to beat up on the laughs prospects LOL
Go Oil Kings, Go Oil Barons... Go Oil! LOL

very surprised Canadiens.. in the US it's all NBC. NBC sports network carries most of them, poorly.
there was one year I missed some of the playoffs here. versus had the third round on... but wasn't carried by most cable networks here! stupid bettman. so we only got the weekend games on the normal NBc station. this is what we deal with all the time. it's sad. i'm not sure who owns the cable $ in Mason, but if the hotel had direct tv they do carry NBC sports.
I like the makeup of this years cup. any of these teams could win. we seldom see anything from the Q, but OHL games do make it through down here, tape delay of course.... and following the oil Kings is easy since Katz owns em ;)

unclesnipe - what goes with Mason, Ohio (suburbs of Cincinnati). We were there for a few nights and our motel had about six sports channels but no one carried the NHL play-offs. I was so ticked that I went to two different restaurants to see if they had it and they did not. You would think that Ohio with the Blue Jackets would show the Stanley Cup play-offs!
There was a Baseball network which was showing College baseball which would be great for baseball lovers (which I am) but no NHL hockey?

This is where Canadians think that hockey is not that important to Americans from coast to coast where in Canada there isn't a province, territory, city, or village that doesn't have NHL hockey.

Getting back to the Memorial Cup - it's tough to pick a favourite because the weakest team could beat the strongest team depending on style of play. I've seen this before in Junior hockey where styles vary from one league to another and with this round robin play there is not much time to adjust like there is in a four out of seven.

In any case this is pretty good hockey and it should be very interesting.

Being from Ontario, naturally I'm pulling for the Knights with London only an hour and a half from here. When the Spitfire's were winning it we were able to see a couple of games because Windsor is only seventy minutes from here.

Only a matter of time before Quebec City is back in the NHL.

After following all these teams in the play-offs, I think any one of these four teams could win it. I had originally thought that the OHL was rather weak this year but the London Knights have really picked up their game and they have just as good a chance as anyone but Saint John will be very tough and the Oil Kings are worthy opponents and Shawinigan has a point to make and it's their home ice.

Drop the puck and let's watch tomorrow's NHL superstars.
